Thompson - 950913-1
A super rare 3 digit serial numbered Colt 21A with a very interesting history. It was seized off the Steamship Eastside along with a large cache Thompson Machine Guns destined for the Irish Republican Army. In total there were 495 weapons seized by US Customs Officials on June 14, 1921 at Pier No. 2, Hoboken, New Jersey. To my knowledge, this weapon never left the USA. It and two others (#758 & #833) were returned by the FBI to Frank Williams via his agent Joseph McGarrity in November of 1925. See attached document, page #3, memorandum for the Director of the FBI, John Edgar Hoover.
Overall condition is very good to excellent, however sometime in it's life it was re barreled. The re barreling was quite professionally done. So much so that I did not notice it until which time it was pointed out to me by a long time Thompson Historian. Even though it has been re barreled, it still retains a great value because of itís historical provenance and it being a 3 digit serial numbered weapon. All other components are original to the weapon.
