Thompson - 260808-1

An original 1921A version of the Colt Thompson with quite a story. This weapon retains about 90% to 91% of the overall finish. Somewhere over the years, I believe the original butt stock was replaced with another from a later era. The internals are all original 21A issue.

This weapon was shipped to the Colorado Sporting Goods Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 29, 1926. It did not surface again until January of 1955. It was one of two Thompson guns found wrapped in some old oil rags and hidden in an empty wine cask when the cellar of the Broadmore Hotel in Colorado Springs was being renovated. The El Paso County Sheriff's Department was called and both weapons were confiscated. During the 1968 Amnesty Act both weapons were registered with the Department of the Treasury. In 1975 one of the Sheriff's Deputies traded the department updated weapons in exchange for both Thompson's. The deputy sold one to his friend and kept the other.
