MP38/40 - 200708-6
This is a very nice example of an original MP40 bring back from WWII. AYF43 coded, it was manufactured by B. Giepel GMBH, Waffenfabrik, Erma, Erfurt, Thuringia. A strong percentage of the original finish remains. I owned this weapon many years back and had the opportunity to buy it back into inventory. I purchased it many years ago from a Dr. in Bluefield, West VA. He relayed the story that a German soldier had carved his initials into the side of the bakelite housing during the war. I left it like it was as I consider it part of history.
Replacing it with another of the same era would be quite easy. The serial numbers are all matching, even down to the bolt and firing pin. It still has the original sling that came back with it. This weapon is on the BATFE C&R list. Nice and tight this is a high grade collector piece.
